About Nike Air Flightposite
The Nike Air Flightposite 1 released in 1999 and featured a composite foam material. While being produced, Nike used a molding technique, which composite foam makes a one piece upper hidden and a internal midsole. Nike also slapped a Zoom Air insole. One thing that does occur with the Nike Flightposite One: rubbing at the heel, so wear long socks.
This coming January, Nike’s futuristic Air Flightposite II LE returns. Kevin Garnett hooped in these as a signature model in Minnesota, but now that he’s moved on to lifetime contract with Adidas, these are coming back with a few updates for 2010. Gone is Garnett’s name from the upper and tongue tab, as well as the “Official Block Family” reference on the pull tab. We saw a similar tactic used for the Air Max 3, formerly the Garnett 3, which has also been retroed as of late. While KG’s name may be removed, Flightposite is still the choice material for the upper’s construction, and Zoom Air technology can be found in the sole. If you are waiting on this Nike, Foot Locker will have these available on January 16th.

The Nike Air Flightposite III was part of the Alpha Project series and the Foamposite line making for an incredibly futuristic looking shoe. Best known for the “lenticular holograms” on the side that really looked like alien eyes, the upper was an ultra-thin foamposite with two stretchy TPU straps, one at the forefoot and the other at the ankle, to provide optimal foot stability and support. The top ankle strap was magnetic which required the wearer to lace up the shoe tightly. The inside of the shoe incorporated a Dynamic-fit sleeve to offer a snug fit, but there were also mesh windows on the tongue area for breathability. Zoom Air cushioning was throughout the shoe with an exposed midsole carbon-fiber plate and the outsole was solid rubber with herringbone.
The next progression after the Air Flightposite, the Nike Air Flightposite II KG, named after Kevin Garnett, incorporated an ultra-thin Foamposite upper with a Dynamic-fit sleeve on the inside and outside of the shoe offering foot stability in a lightweight shoe. The cushioning featured Zoom Air in the heel and forefoot and a PU plate and Phylon in the midsole. The outsole was solid rubber, but there was an exposed carbon fiber plate to add torsional and arch support.
